Job Summary:
The Utility Data Security Analyst is responsible for ensuring the security and integrity of utility data systems and infrastructure within the Energy and Utilities industry. This role involves conducting regular security assessments, implementing robust security measures, and managing incidents related to utility data breaches. The Utility Data Security Analyst will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and enforce security policies and procedures, and to identify and mitigate potential risks to the organization's utility data assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular security assessments of utility data systems, networks, and applications to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain security controls and measures to protect utility data from unauthorized access, modification, or destruction.
- Monitor and analyze security logs, alerts, and reports to identify potential security incidents or breaches.
- Investigate and respond to security incidents promptly, ensuring appropriate containment, eradication, and recovery actions are taken.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define security requirements and develop strategies to protect utility data assets.
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on security best practices and promote a security-conscious culture within the organization.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging threats, and technologies related to utility data security, and recommend necessary security enhancements or changes.
- Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning exercises to ensure the availability and integrity of utility data during and after disruptive events.
- Maintain documentation related to security policies, procedures, incident response plans, and system configurations.
- Assist in audits and regulatory compliance assessments related to utility data security.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in utility data security, information security, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of utility data systems, networks, and applications.
- Proficiency in conducting security assessments and vulnerability scans using industry-standard tools.
- Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or CIS Controls.
- Experience in implementing and managing security controls and measures.
- Ability to analyze security logs and reports to identify potential security incidents and breaches.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to respond to security incidents promptly and effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance requirements related to utility data security.
- Ability to stay updated with emerging threats and technologies in the utility data security domain.
- Certification in relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or GIAC is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
